Independence Day 2021 is shaping up to be the catalyst of extraordinary memories. With the holidays of the past year relegated to the sidelines of our lives, people long for the brilliance and fire of the rockets’ red flare and the bombs bursting in air--in other words, a spectacular fourth.
Happily, several cities are geared up to deliver the light show of your dreams. So why not make the effort to hit one of the nation’s most famous firework events? Our country has a lot to offer.
New York
If Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Parade isn’t your thing, how about the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks display? Because they’ve got that covered, too. This spectacle in New York’s West Side is the biggest of its kind in the country.
According to the Travel Channel, this gorgeous light show features “more than 40,000 fireworks shells soaring up to 1,000 feet in the air, and is rivaled only by the accompanying orchestration by the New York Pops Orchestra and Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Patriotic fans ooh and aah over the annual showstopper known as Macy's Golden Mile. It's a mile-long shower of golden sparks that makes the plunge to the Hudson River and also features mysterious Ghost Shells that flash into the air and quickly reappear in a new color.”
Philadelphia
For some serious fireworks, America’s birthplace does Independence Day right! Head out to Philadelphia for fireworks and fun. According to Lakes Realty Group, “On the 4th, the city shuts down the Benjamin Franklin Parkway leading up to the Philadelphia Art Museum (where the fireworks will go off overhead) for the biggest “block party” you’ll enjoy. In the hours before the fireworks, you’ll also get to enjoy a concert featuring Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor.”

Pasadena
The famous Rose Bowl Stadium is the spot to be for fireworks in Southern California. Until “Americafest” begins, keep the kids entertained at the Family Fun Zone. According to their website, you can watch the fireworks from “the Stadium's iconic turf” if you decide to support the event. “Donors and supporters will have the option to gain VIP field access viewing for the event – complete with a Rose Bowl commemorative blanket, BBQ dinner, and other amenities. Donors to the event will be also recognized on the Stadium’s two video screens leading up to the famed firework show. For more information, please call 626-577-2540 or 626-229-4503 for availability.
Houston
Houston’s goes big with their annual show of patriotism. The “Shell Freedom Over Texas” is ready to go, and its 2021 theme is honoring America’s Frontline Heroes. The festival won’t be happening this year, but their spectacular pyrotechnics are set.
According to their site, “the annual day-long festival is on hold for one more season, however, Houstonians can enjoy the City’s cherished tradition of music and patriotic moments via live broadcast on Sunday, July 4th from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. on ABC 13. Fireworks will reach 800 feet, almost doubling the height of the traditional show, for more to enjoy from further away. Open spaces and neighborhood parks with a view of the western downtown skyline are ideal. Eleanor Tinsley Park will be open for fireworks viewing only for families that wish to park downtown and walk (Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive will be closed for fall out).”
Wherever you are, we hope you’re hitting the beaches and firing up the grill, because it’s officially summer. While you’re at it, dress up the kids in red, white, and blue on the big day with onesie bodysuits and tees from infant through youth sizes. Like all of our clothes, our Patriotic Collection is made with safe-for-children organic cotton and non-toxic dyes.
Wishing you the best fourth from your friends at Spunky Stork!
